Why I Love Outdoor Family Photoshoots

There's just something special about photographing families outdoors. One of my favourite types of shoots is capturing families being themselves—laughing, playing, and enjoying each other's company. Outdoor family photoshoot in London lets your family's personality shine through in a way that studio shoots sometimes just can't capture.

The Beauty of Natural Moments

For me, the magic happens in the in-between moments. Sure, we'll take a few posed shots, but I love capturing the candid ones—the moments where everyone feels relaxed, and the unplanned interactions show the real bond you share. Being outdoors, and enjoying yourselves as a family, brings out those genuine smiles and connections that truly shine. Whether you're playing in the park, walking through the woods, or even having a little cuddle, these are the memories that you'll treasure.

Perfect for Toddlers and Active Kids

Outdoor shoots are perfect for toddlers, especially when the idea of a studio session feels like a challenge. Studio shoots can be tough for little ones with short attention spans, but outdoors? That's a whole different story. They can run, play, explore, and be themselves, while I capture their serious faces, cheeky grins, and every little moment in between. The best part is that they'll forget there's a camera around, and that's when we get the most authentic shots.

Choosing the Perfect Location in London

I work mainly in South-West and Central London, there are so many spots like beautiful parks, quiet gardens, and hidden gems. I'm always open to new locations. If you have a place in mind, just let me know and we can discuss. Exploring new parks is part of the fun, and I love finding the perfect backdrop for your family.

Don't Worry About the Weather

One thing families often worry about is the weather, but I'm here to tell you not to stress about it. Cloudy days are actually amazing for photography! The light is soft and flattering, which makes for beautiful images. We can always reschedule if it's raining heavily, but a few rainy-day shots can still be a lot of fun, especially with some cute umbrellas in hand.

The Perfect Time for Your Outdoor Family Photo Session

While golden hour just before sunset offers that magical, soft orange glow, the best time for your little ones is when they're well-fed and rested, so they're feeling happy and energised. I'm always flexible and will work around your family's routine to make sure everyone is comfortable. Most of my photo sessions are scheduled in the morning or afternoon, avoiding the harsh midday light, so we can get those beautiful, natural shots without any fuss.
